about

Both Julie and I are prog-rockers at heart, and I knew I wanted to do something progressive and completely different for the last song, and End of All Things fit the bill!

I love the last half of the song, especially the bass line, the guitar solo, and the closing refrain. This whole closing section came together in about two hours on the final day of recording. I think I one-taked the solo, which is rare for me. A fitting end to a three year process!

lyrics

He heard the distant thunder
Bent his head and waited
The night was deep
The stars were hid above

And yet the fear he should have felt
Somehow remained abated
He looked inside and recognized the truth

The cost
He’s waiting to count the numbers
The loss
Lies hidden while wisdom slumbers

How long the night
How short the day
Step in to light
Don’t lose the way

The weight of ages covers all
And lies in every footstep

Beyond the Dream
Beyond the near and known
You find the end of all things
